RELATIONAL APPROACH

I believe the relationship we co-create is instrumental to your healing journey. Through the relationship we build together, you will start to notice how you relate to others, and how these ways of relating may be impacting your well-being. We will give attention to how early relational patterns affect your current relationships so that you can develop new ways to strengthen relationships with others. As a result, I prioritize a relationship where we are constantly impacting one another and where we can bring our vulnerability to the forefront.

STRENGTHEN YOUR RESILIENCY

A core element of our work will focus on strengthening resiliency by identifying your strengths and inviting your values to drive your choices and the ways in which you relate to others. We will look at everything within your environment and social context to understand how existing coping strategies have been adaptive, creative and protective in your search for safety and comfort. While they may have supported you in the past, it’s possible that they no longer serve you. Together, we will explore new and creative ways to establish safety and reach for support.

HOLISTIC APPROACH - MIND AND BODY

I take a holistic approach because I believe there is a strong connection between the mind and body. As such, I like to incorporate somatic work by exploring how trauma, stress, anxiety and more show up physically and physiologically in our bodies. By identifying the ways our bodies signal distress, we can be better equipped to recognize and manage discomfort.

WORKING COLLABORATIVELY

Our work together will be collaborative as I believe you are the expert of your life. Together we will: identify your goals and opportunities for growth, explore your values that drive your decision-making, make meaning of your experiences within your cultural and social contexts, and challenge the “shoulds” and expectations of dominant culture that may be impacting your well-being.

I approach the therapeutic relationship with empathy and from a place of nonjudgmental curiosity. I never assume your experiences, but instead ask questions to facilitate exploration and understanding of your past and present. While I may challenge you at times, I will not direct you on how to think or act. Instead, I will work alongside you to develop goals and conditions that support your healing journey.
