THE MIND-BODY RELATIONSHIP
It’s not uncommon to think our feelings away and rationalize our emotions. By doing so, however, we ignore the ways in which our bodies signal stress, fear, anxiety or any other emotion around which we might feel discomfort. Our physical states impact our mental health and emotional well-being.
At the same time, our psychological well-being can directly impact our physical health. It works both ways. Chronic back pain, migraine headaches or digestive issues, for example, may be the result of emotional imbalances.
OUR WORK
I take a holistic approach because I believe in this strong connection between the mind and body. By strengthening the mind-body relationship, we can start to notice how physical sensations are tied to feelings, thoughts and experiences.
By exploring how trauma, stress, anxiety and more show up physically and physiologically in our bodies, we can begin to release the tension or discomfort that is stored in the body and that is negatively impacting our emotional well-being.
Prior to connecting the ways in which traumatic and distressing experiences are stored in the body, we will collaboratively identify resources that support you and allow you tolerate the sensations. We will use breath, relaxation and grounding techniques, and more to notice and release physical tension that remains in the body.
